Genre – Memoire

Tuesdays with Morrie is a memoir written by Mitch Albom in respect of his late professor, Morrie, whom he considered his mentor and best friend . Everyone has that one person in life with whom you can share anything without thinking twice about it; someone who is a great mentor as well as a friend . Mitch Albom, a student at Brandeis University, found a mentor and a friend in his sociology professor, Morrie. Soon, Mitch graduated from the college, and at his graduation ceremony, he promised his professor to stay in contact with him. Soon after, Mitch got busy with his work and lost track of his old friend. Morrie, on the other hand, got diagnosed with an uncurable disease and got covered on a TV show. That’s when Mitch saw him and travelled to meet his old friend and prepare the last thesis with him every Tuesday (so that’s where the title comes from).

This book has been on my tbr list for a month and at first I thought it was a self-help book (it kinda is) , it’s a memoir. The author has a unique ability to make you cry and smile at the same time. Each chapter of this book has a lesson in it which shows how an old man sees the world and it is so different from what others see. The way Morrie has accepted his fate, rather than giving up on life, he just thinks differently and continues to enjoy the remaining time with his loved ones. He also tells Mitch about the different perspective of looking at life. Morrie is a person who believes in positive thinking, and that is the reason he has the strength to keep going even when life isn’t fair to him.
